Xavior's School for Gifted Youngsters

Posted on by dan schlitzkus

You wake up floating 3 feet above your bed - what do you do? Don't call the Enquirer - seek professional help. You might be a mutant! There is a place, a school where you can learn how to control your powers and bond with others who share your unique x-gene. This wonderful school is Xavior's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Here you will learn the physics or non-physics of your powers. Maybe how to survive without your talents or powers - just in case some enemy steals your powers. Or Logan's popular course on "How to be the best there is at what you do".

So I designed these patches or merit badges so you could proudly display them on your lettermen's jacket or sash. So when you face off with Magneto you will have the confidence to kick his butt with your new found knowledge.

WIP. I started this logo design for our church study coming up soon. We will be projecting this onto our recycled wood paneling wall and painting it. It should look pretty rad. Pics to come.

MIke's Hard - Dragonfruit

Posted on by dan schlitzkus

Mike's Hard and Zooppa are putting on a contest to illustrate the next can for the new Dragonfruit flavor. I often shy away from contests - because I am plenty busy. But I had a Saturday morning free and though, why not?

Check out the results below.

Filter Digital Business Cards

Posted on by dan schlitzkus

When I was visiting the Filter Office the other day I was looking forward to seeing my posters on their walls, but was surprised to also see that these killer business cards. I heard there might be a t-shirt and other swag coming down the road. Can't wait!

Oh and thanks Blocky Head for helping out with the photo shoot..... pssst. He's pretty useless.

Artist need to play...

Posted on by dan schlitzkus

I find that when I am busy as heck I really yearn to just play around with my art - not for actual professional work. Which is strange, not when I have all the time in the world (which really doesn't exist for myself). No, when I am super busy working on illustrations and branding projects.

I guess when the creative juices are flowing they really flow. Ideas come into my brain more frequently and I just can't stop. Help me - uttered under my breath.

The good that comes from playing really does help me in future projects and personal growth. The bad side is a little less sleep. But who really needs sleep?

So to get an idea of the stuff I have been playing around with just look and see. Let me know what you think.

Love what you do

I created this poster for Laser Cat (ADC) Miami. I suppose it will be projected upon a wall... not sure, I won't be there. If you don't know what I'm talking about - check it. http://lasercatmiami.com/ .

Sooo process, I took black paper, some cool silver and gold markers and a compass. Starting in the middle by drawing circle upon circles until I had a circular mess - I started drawing patterns on the spheres.

After that, I designed some font work in illustrator. Printed onto a transparency - prepped a screen - screen printed the design onto the blackboard. Viola! Pew! Pew! Laser Cat art.

If you happen to be in Miami and see this projected on some wall - gimme a holler!

I heart work

Working on some poster designs for Filter Digital. This one wasn't quite working, but it's worth sharing. I am sure it can be recycled for something cool. Enjoy.

Coat of Arms finished

Posted on by dan schlitzkus

My new friend from Middle Earth (NZ) asked me to create a family coat of arms as he starts a new chapter in his life. He had the COA thought out in great detail.

A coat of arms really helps create a visual you can display in different formats that represents you and your family.

I really hope they enjoy this as much as I did creating it.

Cheers.

Ballard Art Walk

Posted on by dan schlitzkus

It took me awhile to get this posted, but thanks again to those folks at Evolution Press (Ballard // Seattle) for the invite to the Ballard Art Walk a few weeks ago. I hung some stuff on their walls and enjoyed a nice night hanging out in the shop.

The process of Letterpress is very fun and informative to watch. Thanks to Evan and Scott for the leftovers. I was very happy to walk away with quite a few flyers and coasters.
